Summa' Time!

Dudes.

Dudes.

I have something to tell you.

IT'S THE SUMMER.

Despite the fact that the summer means nothing to an "adult" such as myself, I still revel in the fact that I can finally run the air conditioning without feeling guilty. Seriously, it's too damn hot out not to. Don't you judge me. I know what you do when no one's home. You should be ashamed, looking down on me.

Speaking of looking down on people, I've been keeping quite busy with all kinds of crap while you have been doing, I don't know, your OWN crap. My friend, Beth, and I are chugging along with the Monster Exchange, which you should definitely check out if you haven't already. And even if you have, you should look again. We update as frequently as our busy schedules allow, and that stuff is gold. I promise. I wouldn't lie to you, we're friends. Friends don't lie to each other. Unless it involves cookies, in which case all bets are off.

Here, I brought some artwork for you. It's not cookies, but it's not THAT bad. I have feelings too, you know <3.
Ramsey, my sister's new adopted baby <3

Tattoo that I'm designing for a certain someone, based on the Trinacria of Sicily

Artwork from Source Point Press' "Weird Little Kid," release date of Fall 2013

Another illustration from "Weird Little Kid"

Front Cover from Source Point Press' "Delightfully Wicked Poetic Tales" book, for sale at  http://sourcepointpress.blogspot.com/p/store.html

A stupid thing that I did a while ago. I feel like I posted this before, but it's my blog, I can repost as I please.

Small comic about my beloved puppies.

Request from a friend for "an epic battle with knights fighting dragons."

Preeetty....self-explanatory.

Some fan art for Kyary Pamyu Pamyu. Color Version coming soon!

Graduation present for a cousin of mine, color version also on its way!

Commission piece from Shuto Con, 2013. Oh, the ponies <3

One more of Ramsey. He's such a funny bugger.

As you can see, some of that stuff was from Shuto Con 2013. That Con went MARVELOUSLY, and I can't wait for next year's con to get here. Seriously, it was a blast. Since then, I've also taken on designing tattoos for people. If you're ever interested in having me sketch up some ink for you, please shoot me a message at diana.w.busby@gmail.com, I'd love to hear from you! Really, just send me a message to say "hi" too. That works as well.

Uh, what else... (think, think, think), I, uh... I got nothin'. Sorry. I tried, though, I really did. If you feel like you're not getting enough of me on here, please check out my Tumblr account. I tend to post what I'm up to on there pretty frequently, and, really, who doesn't want MORE WAN-TSUNAMI? No one, that's who.

That's about it. I'm sure I missed something important, but that's me! Such a scamp.

I'll be back... with more stuff for you.

BYE!

Shuto-Con 2013, Monsters, and Buttons-- OH MY!

Greetings, all you guys, gals, and everything in between!

I hope you're doing swell. Me? I am PEACHY.

That's only slightly sarcastic. I'm getting over my second cold this season, I'm about to trade up my phone, I have a brand-new BUTTON MACHINE, I have a lot of illustration work on my plate, and things are pretty great. I feel like the sludge of the winter blues is sliding off my glorious, slippery, duck-like body, and now I can face anything! We'll see how I feel tomorrow.

Anyway, if you haven't stopped by my Tumblr in a while, you should. Unfortunately, it's much easier to post material on there daily, so I've been frequenting that account more than this lovely little blog. You should go check it out regularly to see what I'm up to. I'll still attempt to post on here, but it isn't going to be as frequent. I'm just telling you because we're friends, and friends are honest with each other about things like that.

Here are some things I've been up to. Enjoy with your eyes, your nose, your...feet? Whatever floats your boat, I don't judge. I just make stuff.

These next images are from a collaboration with my friend, Beth Sparks. It's called "The Monster Exchange," and it is a wonderful thing. You should go look, especially if you like art, monsters, or both. Preferably both.

We essentially decided on 20 themes for different monsters, and then we create the initial line art. Next we color each other's artwork, and voila! Monster exchange. It rocks pretty hard, so you should keep an eye on it. We plan on putting it into book form if we can get enough interest together!

Buttons I designed for Shuto-Con. You know you love them <33

I also have the poetry book with Source Point Press in the works. It should be ready for print pretty soon. I'm also doing some spot illustrations for the Source Point Press Super Hero Anthology, and it's been a blast working on those as well. More to come on those exciting developments as they...develop.

Leave me alone, I'm sick for goodness sake.

Oh yeah! Look for Wan-Tsunami at this Shuto-Con 2013! It's this Friday, and, baby, it's going to be a riot! Buttons, comics, drawings, and so much more!

Anyway, I should get back to work on all that stuff I was just talking about. Love you guys!

Will February Ever Be Over With?

I apologize in advance for any whining in this post, but being alone in Midland will tend to bring out the sadness in anyone. Luckily, it won't be for more than a week and a half, but that's more than enough for me.

This month in particular has been dragging by extremely slowly. I've been saddled with more than 9 vet visits in less than a month, and I am definitely a little frazzled. My body's all out of whack. My brain is drawing a blank. Despite getting to see friends and having a lot of exciting events coming up in the following months, I am growing more and more frustrated with the situation I'm in.

Don't get me wrong... life is great, all in all. I'm mostly just frustrated with myself. Also, I have no idea how to really make it in this field. I don't fit well into any specific categories, and I can't seem to find a good audience for my work. Maybe it's because it still needs a lot of development, I honestly can't be quite sure. I'm trying to improve as best I can, but...I worry that's not enough.

What else can I do, though?

Keep fucking trying. Just keep...slogging through that mud, and eventually I'll get out on the other side. I feel like I didn't conquer my mental illness just to let something as little as "money" stop me. Money would be nice, though.

In the meantime, I'll keep watching this video and laugh. After all, laughter is life's cheapest medicine. Or something like that.

Thanks, Mission Hill. This clip is my constant go-to for when I'm down!

Oh What a Night

Hey guys. I know it's been a while since my last update, and there are several reasons why. Well...mostly one reason.

Little Luca, the Boston in the corner, has been having some health problems as of late. It was a huge mess... turns out he had a zygomatic mucocele in addition to a small cyst in his cheek area, and it was causing a lot of discomfort and dangerous swelling behind his left eye. After lots of money, tears, and panicked late night vet visits, little Luca is quickly on his way to recovery.

Fast forward to this weekend. I went to visit my sister, who is currently a surgery resident in Memphis, TN. Edward was able to join me for a few days before he had to go back to work, and my lovely friend, Megan, got to come over from Georgia for a visit too! Everything was going fine, and my two guys pictured above were getting along great with my sister's adorable rescue dog, Ramsey. However, Luca and Ramsey got in a nasty tussle over a toy, and poor Luca got all bit up. Now we're up to... 6 vet visits within the last month, three of which were at emergency vet locations. Translation? EXPENSIVE. This month, I tell ya--- it's been a doozy. Silver lining, though-- everyone is recovering well/in good health, and the boys are getting along alright. In fact, they are sleeping together next to me as I write this. THANK GOD. I don't think my squinty little heart can take much more drama and medical stuff. Not yet, not MEOW!

On a happier note, here are a few of my illustrations that I've been posting on Tumblr... Yeah...I've been cheating on this blog a little bit, but it's not because I don't love you. It's because...well...my brain can't handle more than a few social media outlets at a time. Whoops. In any case, ENJOY!

...I like my art dark like my soup.

Hope that was a good time for you guys. I'm glad things are getting back to normal just in time for the MSU Comics Forum and Shuto-Con. I'll be updating on those later. Right now, it's time to sleep.

What I Wouldn't Do For Pancakes.

Oh, you guys. What I wouldn't do for pancakes at a time like this. Seriously-- I'm not sure what I wouldn't do. Maybe eat feces? Maybe do a dance in the snow sans clothing? Who knows! I just know that I'm hungry, and that I've consumed enough coffee to give me heart palpitations. So... there's that.

There's also this: I have been a busy little Wan-Tsunami, and I bring you many tidbits of joy and happiness for you, yes? My good, good friend, Sungwon Cho, has been donating his writing genius to me as of late, and I have here the awesome results. Enjoy!

See? I told you they were great. Great, great, great. Great. Grate? Great.

I've also been working on a logo for an awesome start-up, Zumo! It's based in Lansing, MI, and it's run by a really radical friend of mine, Jackie Cosner :]] I am so happy to get to help her out-- her family is such a concentrated bundle of bliss, it should be illegal. I'll post more once it's all colored and whatnot. However, if you like veggies and the best of things, you should like her page on Facebook. Especially if you live in Lansing, which I know some of you do. HERE'S A LINK.

Also, also, I'm still doing work on the Ninja Game, thus dubbed "Godai: A Ninja's Duet" at this point in time. I've gotten through a few of the characters, and it'd been a blast so far! I will spoil some of the art a little later, once we've assembled the materials together :I You'll just have to be patient until then. C'mon, you'll be alright. It's good for you.

As an end note, here's a little something that I did for Source Point Press' poem, "The Dark Princess." I'd say she's the darkest princess I have ever seen, and you can quote me on that. In fact, I expect you to. You pansy.

Tchuess!

A Moment of Reflection

Greetings, everyone.

You know, it's times like these that really get me thinking. I've been watching (creepily) on Facebook as many of my friends and loved ones are moving through the major milestones of life-- marriage, kids, uh, houses... and things of that nature. As I watch my newsfeed fill up with these happy occurrences, I get a little sappy and introspective. While all my friends are off living successful lives, what am I doing?

...I'm drawing children itching their butts, that's what..

A draft of the Delusional Parasitosis illustration from "Peculiar."
I'm also drawing dinosaurs learning how to smile. Specifically, grumpasauruses.

I'm going to go make some coffee and work on this book more before I get in a funk. Life reflection time is OVER.

Something Smells Peculiar...

Greetings, everyone! I have some very exciting news!

I FINALLY HAVE A BOOK PROJECT ALMOST FINISHED.

I know I've been slow at churning out new books, and I am especially aware that I haven't done any real "comics" in quite a while. Well, if you're itching for a Wan-Tsunami comic...you'll have to wait longer. On the plus side, though, I have a great little number almost ready for print dubbed "Peculiar." It's a small collection of limericks and illustrations revolving around lesser-known mental diseases and disorders. They range from fun topics like pica all the way to interesting issues like the capgras delusion. So, be ready! I'll announce on here when it's all printed and ready for you folks. To whet your appetite, though, here's a little sample! (It still needs a few touch ups, but I didn't want to keep you waiting. Aren't I nice?)

Exhibitionism
Poor Lucy gave people a fright,
For she thought her body a sight.
She would leap into crowds,
To her skivvies strip down,
Then flee gleefully into the night.

I've also been continuing my work for Source Point Press, as well as with OPifex Entertainment for a board game competition. So, in short, I'm keeping myself busy. Since I also got a fancy new printer, I'll be offering bigger prints at my Etsy store especially for you! Y..yup, that's about it.

PS: Oh, here are some art samples from Source Point Press' poetry book I'm working on. More soon!
